Why did prices go up this year?
We strive to treat our hard working employees as family. In order to provide them with wages they deserve especially in this tough economy along with the drastic increase in cost of fertilizer, plants, diesel (for frost protection) and containers, we felt that we had to increase prices in order to maintain the high quality produce that we have provided for 56 years.
Do you allow pets?
Unfortunately, no. We love our four-legged friends, but due to some issues in the past, we ask that you please leave them at home.
How much are vegetables/corn/watermelons?
We will determine the prices of other produce once we are closer to their harvest. With such drastic fluctuations in agricultural expenses, it is hard to predict much in advance.
When are you coming to Patrick Springs, Floyd, or Riner?
Although we would LOVE to have a set schedule, farming is very unpredictable and we often do not know until the day before or even the day of if we are coming or what time. Please watch Facebook or call for updates.
If you would like an email notification each time we are coming to your location, please email mabesberryfarm@gmail.com with the subject line "Patrick Springs, Floyd, or Riner" (or multiple) to get placed on that mailing list.
What forms of payment do you accept?
At the farm, we accept cash or card (debit/credit) for strawberries. We do charge a small transaction fee on payments with card because of the added expense on us. When we travel, we only accept cash. **FOR BLUEBERRIES - we DO NOT take cards we only accept cash.
Do you allow people to pick their own strawberries?
Yes! We do have pick-your-own based on availability and field conditions. We open this a little later in the season once they are more plentiful. Pick-your-own opening varies rapidly based on the weather and how many people come to pick; please always call before driving out to check availability.
What are your hours?
We grow and harvest what we sell fresh, and as a working farm, we are very dependent on the weather. Because of that, our hours can be quite variable. Always call before coming out to check field conditions for pick-your-own or to order already picked.
What are your Covid-19 precautions for 2023?
Because of the recent updated recommendations from the CDC, we will no longer be wearing masks to sell strawberries outside or under our outdoor shelter (it gets hot). We will still be taking extensive hand washing precautions (as we have always done).
