Mabe's Berry Farm has been owned and operated since the first strawberry plant was planted in 1967 and is one of the oldest strawberry farms in North Carolina. Founder, W.G. "Bill" Mabe and wife Emma bought the farm in 1962 and wanted to farm something other than tobacco so the first strawberries were planted. Bill and Emma had four daughters Debbie, Tina, Cindy, and Christy. Bill passed away in 2002 and his family decided to continue on with the family business. Tina Mabe Tamer and husband Paul have since taken over the blueberry side with the help of their daughter Sarah. Christy Mabe Rogers along with husband Mike and children Justin and Nicole run the strawberry side of the farm. The rest of the Mabe family helps whenever needed whether it is irrigation or picking. Mabe's Berry Farm is truly a family farm and would not be around without this devoted family working together.
